How it all began
Since the inaugural meeting with Sidney Hugo Nicholson (later Sir Sidney) in Westminster Abbey on 6 December 1927, the RSCM world-wide has provided support and leadership and continues to invest in church music for the future through education, training, publications, advice and encouragement.
World-wide
RSCM NZ along with other countries, including the UK, Australia, Europe, North America, and South Africa, is made up of Church, School, Choir, Individual Members, Friends, supporters, correspondents and associates volunteering their time and energy to foster these objectives and enjoy the fellowship that stems from activities.
How we manage
We communicate amongst ourselves and with the wider community using the full range from old fashioned face-to-face meetings to today''s internet circuits.
Governance of the Society can therefore be carried on very efficiently by Office-bearers from diverse locations.
RSCM NZ operates nation-wide & internationally
It is supported by a National Office under direction of a Council of Representatives drawn from five branches, Auckland (Auckland City is the Branch''s focal point), Waikato (Hamilton City), Wellington (Wellington City), Canterbury (Christchurch City), and Otago & Southland (Dunedin City - the RSCM NZ Registered Office is located at Dunedin''s Knox College). For example Australia and NZ regularly combine for major events such as Summer Schools etc.

Paul V. Ellis (see his picture in the slide-show above) is the current President of RSCM NZ.
Cooperation
RSCM NZ is glad to cooperate, combine for events, support, and encourage other organisations with concordant purposes as and when appropriate and practicable. E.g. NZ Association of Organists, Inc., and NZ Choral Federation, etc.
The NZCF for instance runs events which RSCM NZ is glad to encourage.
“ NZCF''s multi-cultural, multi-art festival was first held in 1990 to commemorate the 150th anniversary of the signing of the Treaty of Waitangi.
Scheduled every few years, Sing Aotearoa brings together singers, writers and composers from all over New Zealand for an intensive weekend of concerts, workshops, performances and cultural exchange.
Go to the NZCF line on our links page to reach their site for further details.
