Bulletin 1

From the President RSCM NZ

The NZ Council held their Annual meeting on Saturday 14 February.
Officers elected were: President Paul Ellis, Minutes Secretary Alison Pitts, Communications Councillor Robert Tait, Treasurer Kevin Neate, Coopted to Council, Bruce Aitken.

It may interest you to know who hold the chairs of each Branch:
Auckland Anita Banbury
Waikato Paula Spiers [succeeding Peg de Winton]
Wellington Guy Jansen
Christchurch Ron James
Otago & Southland Juan Kinnear ( newly appointed)

Financially, we continue to live on the smell of an oily rag. That is why the Branch levy is so important for our cash flow. If each member found a new individual member or affiliate we would be in clover. If, on approach, they say to you the RSCM has nothing to offer them explain that they are contributing to a very important charity.

The RSCM Foundation is up and running and already funds stand at $6266. Details are on the RSCM Website (click Foundation on the menu bar). Members are encouraged to assist in building up this fund so that capital is such as to provide assistance from interest. Donations welcome however small. Enquiries : <johnmid@clear.net.nz>

It was regretted that information regarding options available for members at the Summer Schools in January 2009 did not reach everyone.

The Voice for Life programme examinable levels of Bronze and Silver have been adopted by the RSCM Council and members are urged to encourage young people to take this International Qualification.

The Website has been redesigned, is user friendly and we urge members to visit it. <http://rscmnz.awardspace.com>

The RSCM has a large holding of scores held in Wellington. For RSCM members postage and a levy of $20 is all that is required to hire scores and avoid the Xerox police! Copies of the holding are on the website and Branch Secretaries should have updated hard copy.

Congratulations to Krystyna Wishnowsky, Norm Kershaw and Peter de Blois on their RSCM Awards. Norman and Krystyna will be presented with the Certificates of Special Service in Wellington Cathedral at 5.00pm on March 8. Peter has the option of collecting his ARSCM at the Awards function in UK.

I had the option of attending the International Summer School in Canterbury UK in August 2008. It was a positive and motivational week. The aims of the RSCM in 2009:- securing the future, enriching the present and sustaining traditions. Keep up the good work!  Paul Ellis (Ref: 022309 : 1146)
