Sing-in
An event honouring in a friendly and sociable way 4 composers whose Anniversaries fall this year. 7.30 pm Tuesday 20 October at Somervell Presbyterian Church, 497 Remuera Road, Remuera, Auckland. It will be led by Anita Banbury, RSCM NZ Auckland Chairperson, together with Lay Canon Peter de Blois, Director of Music Holy Trinity Cathedral, Auckland and deputy Chair RSCM NZ Auckland Branch.
Works chosen are by Purcell, Handel, Haydn, and Mendelssohn (the year of their birth or death ends with a "9"). To help with planning, please indicate early your intention to participate. Ascension Day Evensong, was held Thursday 21 May, St Patrick's Cathedral, Wyndham Street 8.00 pm.
Music for the service included Sumsion (Magnificat and Nunc Dimitis) and work(s) by Mendelssohn (the 200th anniversary of his February birth is celebrated this year). (posted 16 April 2009.) (Ref: 041609 : 1255)
Auckland AGM
Auckland RSCM NZ Branch AGM was held Friday 27th February. It was preceded at 7.00pm with an Organ Recital by Philip Smith. The AGM followed 7.30pm. Refreshments and socialising followed.(posted 16 April 2009). (Ref: 041609 : 1256)
